The Mixed Mind Map

We have developed a tool which can trigger imaginative new concepts that relate back to the core themes of a project.

Most of core creativity is about combining two things to create something new, and the best reconfiguration and reuse of existing elements will create the most imaginative ideas.

If a person is put under pressure and asked to find similarities or connections (either in form or in meaning) between unrelated elements, the brain will usually prove to be very good at managing. This wiring can be used for making creative concepts - the academic term is forced association.

The mixed mind map is based on this principle and uses group work to move away from the obvious ideas and into the realm of fresh ones, while not losing sight of the core themes. It can be used in any situation that needs to be injected with some new creative thinking.
